Our Center for Digital Safety & Securit y is seeking to hire new Ingenious Partners for our location in Vienna : Research Engineer (m/f/d) for Quantum Cryptography Software Development (Full-time / Part-time) - Center for Digital Safety & Security - Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a method for secret key agreement based on optical communication with quantum signals. Satellite-based QKD can overcome the distance limitations of several hundred kilometers still present in fiber based QKD systems. As part of our dynamic and internationally renowned team , that has been leading large European research projects in the field of quantum cryptography since 2004, you will create the next generation of high quality software for devices that operate on satellites or in data centers. You will transform research results from quantum cryptography into products. Together with your colleagues you will develop and maintain our Quantum Key Distribution post processing software on Linux server machines and/or embedded devices written in C++. You will interact and communicate with partners in national and international research projects as well as contractual research and develop concepts, specifications, and procedures to achieve project goals. Your contributions play an important role in our success in ongoing and future projects. The software you co-develop will be used in pilot projects for secure communications in infrastructures of European technology leaders. Your qualification as an Ingenious Partner : Degree (BSc / MSc) in computer science (FH / University), preferably in the area of software engineering or equivalent higher technical education (HTL) with experience Experience in professional software engineering in C/C++ under Linux (design, implementation, test) Hands-on mentality and enthusiasm for creating sustainable technical solutions and implementing them in practice High commitment and ability to work autonomously in multidisciplinary and diverse teams English as working language (spoken and written proficiency) Knowledge in DevOps, CI/CD, bash scripting, Python (is a plus) Affinity to abstract, mathematical thinking and physics (is a plus) Knowledge in cyber security and/or network engineering (is a plus) Good German, both spoken and written (is a plus) What to expect: The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 hours / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.256,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
